Day 10 – Visitation Day

Day 10 – Friday 27/1/2012

Today is visitations day, we are going to see our folks, we shaved and wore the spare camouflage uniform so clean and tidy, we cleaned our shoes, got a blanket in case if we were going to sit on the ground and we headed to the place where we used to live, to sit on the ground again and wait for your name to be announced over the PA.

Few minutes later I heard my name over the PA, I couldn’t believe myself I was so happy I jumped out of my place and ran towards the visitation area, I saw mom and my sister, I was so happy to see them, we kissed and hugged, then I saw dad and we kissed and hugged too, I could see they were so happy to see me too.

Mom made me some sandwiches; cheese and panes and juice and brought me a lot of chocolate, it was overwhelming. We sat and talked and laughed and thank god we didn’t cry. Those few minutes were quiet what I needed to cheer me up.

After the visit was over I headed back and they went home and I went with my friends to the mosque for Friday prayers, the rest of the day was purely routine.
